We are following the trend away from the serial port with the new PC Adapter USB, which will replace the PC Adapter with serial port in the medium term.
The new PC Adapter USB can be used to program all S7-300 and S7-400 CPUs via the MPI/DP port and the S7-200 CPUs via the PPI port.
